Sunday, 3 June
Blenheim Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site Situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire and on Sunday 3rd June was host to the 14th annual Blenheim triathlon. It’s the 2nd largest triathlon in the UK and is a stunning backdrop for this triathlon ‘season opener’. The course consists of a fresh lake open water swim, a gently rolling bike course and a scenic run around the Queen’s Pool, with 2 distances – Sprint and Super Sprint.
Team TRTC was represented by 5 athletes who all raced the Sprint distance on a warm and sunny day at this beautiful venue. The Sprint distance consists of a 750m swim, a 19.8km bike and a 5.4km run.
For husband and wife Clarke & Sally Gallagher it was their very first triathlon, with Sally finishing in 1hr 52mins and Clarke in 2hrs 24mins. Neil Jewsbury put in a solid performance in his first race of the season, finishing in 1hr40mins. Julie Smith raced cautiously due a recent injury scare and still finished in 1hr 37mins. Katie Barr moved into unfamiliar territory with a longer Swim distance, finishing in an impressive 1hr35mins.
Everyone completed the course with a smile on their faces and it was a great day out for these hard-working athletes and their families at a magnificent location. Well done to everyone! All that hard work is paying off and I can’t wait to greet you again at the next finish line!
Go well guys 🏊🏻🚴🏃♂️💨
